Macrohormones: bigger isn’t always better

Introduction: Macrohormones are complexes of monomeric hormone molecules with IgG leading to formation of macrocomplexes. They are usually immunoreactive, but biologically inactive. The higher molecular weight results in reduced renal clearance and therefore accumulation in the blood.
